About the Role

This position will be part of the Clinical Pharmacology and Translational Sciences team, and will be responsible to support the Pharmacometrics and Clinical Pharmacology Leads in the development and execution of Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) and mechanistic Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) Modeling and Simulation activities related to the research, design, implementation, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and publication of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometris supported studies for products in the early phase of development. This position will work in close partnership with colleagues in Clinical Pharmacology, Biostatistics, Nonclinical Development, Bioanalysis, and Biometrics, as well as with external vendors and partners creating an aligned, quantitative framework to impact strategies and decisions on drug development. The successful candidate will have good quantitative pharmacology skills, scientific reasoning, written and verbal communication skills, exploratory graphical analysis skills, study design and report writing skills.

This individual will utilize a variety of analytic software including MATLAB to design, build, and apply QSP modeling approaches to support decision making within the team. Models may describe a drug's mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, disease mechanisms, and drug toxicities. The successful candidate will be familiar with quantitative approaches in drug development and have hands-on experience with relevant software (e.g. MATLAB, SAS, R).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing QSP modeling strategies to predict drug behavior in biological systems, incorporating mechanistic understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
  • Support PK/PD data analysis and interpretation, providing programming expertise to support data preparation and visualization.
  • Collaborate with research scientists to integrate preclinical and clinical data into QSP and PK/PD frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Pharmacologists and Biostatisticians to integrate modeling results into clinical trial design, dose selection, and drug development pathways.

Education and Experience

  • PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.  An equivalent combination of education and applicable experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant modeling experience is required.
